In 2013, the EU and China began negotiations for an investment agreement. The aim is to give investors on both sides predictable and long-term access to the EU and China markets and to protect investors and their investments. China`s monetary policy has been another hot topic, as China has deliberately kept its currency undervalued for years. However, China has moved towards a more market-based exchange rate, but China`s monetary policy is still under close scrutiny. Other issues affecting bilateral trade flows include China`s industrial policy, which favours state-owned enterprises, differences of opinion on China`s WTO obligations, and the lack of protection of U.S. intellectual property rights. China and New Zealand formally began free trade negotiations in December 2004 and concluded negotiations in December 2007 after 15 rounds of negotiations. There is no doubt that the signing of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement will have and will have a huge impact on China and Asia`s development in global government procurement and related foreign investment. Negotiations on the free trade agreement began for the first time in September 2004, when trade ministers from both countries met on the sidelines of the ASEAN Plus Three economic ministers meeting. The first round of negotiations was launched in May 2012. The two sides signed the free trade agreement in June 2015, after 14 rounds of negotiations. It is a list of free trade agreements between two parties in which each party could be a country (or another customs territory), a trade bloc or an informal group of countries.
